How to convert a blu-ray video to MKV

Guide

Step 1: Select the Video

When you open the software you will see the main interface:

Start by inserting the Blu-ray disk with or select the file from your hard drive,by doing a drag n drop or browsing your file by clicking on the blue square..
* If you have inserted a Blu-ray disk and it is protected, you will need to have a decryptor software running at the same time in order to convert your Blu-ray. There are a couple of decryptor tools available, but we recommend AnyDVD.

Blu-ray To Mkv main interface

The structure of the video will be checked and the Blu-ray will load into the program:

Blu-ray Converter audio/subtitles selection

The entire content of the blu-ray will appear. If your video has a bonus, it will also be shown in this window.

Select the video files (main movie, bonus...) you wish to convert, as well as the audio and subtitle tracks, according to the list offered on the original blu-ray.
To make your selection, click on each entry. You can select as many audio and subtitle tracks as you want. The subtitles will appear if selected on the media player or DVD ramote control if output is burnt on DVD.

When you select your audio languages, Blu-ray to Mkv will add all audio tracks of this language available on the Blu-ray file. If 2 audio tracks are the same, but quality differ, the software select the best available (DTS Master Audio/PCM Blu-ray in major cases for Blu-ray).

When you're done click on Next Step.

Step 2: Choose your Settings

The Settings screen will appear:

Blu-ray converter Settings

1. Output Profile
Select your video format amongst the available list:Low Resolution/ 720p/ 1080p for Xvid, H 264, H264 HQ and Cuda (Cuda appears in profile list only if Nvidia Cuda graphic card is detected and installed, and enable faster conversions)

2. Chapters
You will be able to decide how you want the chapters to be implemented: as they're already set in the source file, or set an automatic generation (and indicate the frequency), or no chapters at all.

3. Video Quality
You can also select the quality according to Filters, this parameter will affect the conversion speed: the highest the desired quality, the longer it will take to be converted.

4. Output File Settings
Select the max target size, i.e. the size of the disk you will insert. If your project is big, you might have to use a double layer DVD (DVD9) to burn on. You can also split the conversion over two disks

The Output folder is the location where your converted file will be saved. You can edit the destination if you wish to.

5. Quality Helper
Underneath you can see the Final quality indicator: this will give a good idea of the overall quality of the output file, depending on the project size and the DVD used (as set right above).
The project size depends on the file itself, if bonuses/subtitles/audio track have been added, so you can play around those parameters to reduce the size of your project if needed.

6. Burn Settings
Edit the name of your video if you wish, select the burner if you have more than one, and indicate the burning speed (we recommend to always use the lowest possible burning speed for best results)
Customize the burning parameters, like erasing rewritable disks without warning, opening the DVD tray at the end of the process and selecting the write method.

When you're done with all your settings, hit the Convert button and that's it!

Step 3: Video Processing

The conversion will start automatically:

You'll get a video with an outstanding quality!
NB: PLease note that not all DVD players will bea able to read the MKV file. If you want to watch the video on your TV, make sure that your DVD player is compatible with MKV, otherwise you'll only be able to play the disk on your computer
